Swiffer and ReStore’s 25th Anniversary
Now there’s another reason to shop at Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Habitat’s ReStore, Swiffer will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity for every ReStore purchase made until October 31. To boot, you’ll get a free Swiffer Duster while supplies last.
What are Habitat’s ReStores, and how does it help my community?
Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials. Shopping at Habitat’s ReStore is a socially conscious decision, as funds generated are used to fund local Habitat for Humanity homebuilding projects. As well, shopping at Habitat’s ReStore is an environmentally conscious decision, as much of what is sold is product that is new, gently used or customer returns that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
This seems like a great idea!
It is, and it’s a Canadian idea at that. Five volunteers from Winnipeg, Manitoba opened Habitat for Humanity’s first ever ReStore in 1991. Today, there are almost 100 locations in Canada and over 1,000 worldwide raising funds to enable families to partner with Habitat and access affordable homeownership.
Volunteer at Habitat’s ReStore
While many Habitat for Humanity build projects only take place at certain times of the year, Habitat’s ReStores always provide volunteers with the opportunity to volunteer. They are a great place to learn skills and meet new people, all while helping build more affordable Habitat homes for local families.
Habitat’s ReStores are always looking for new volunteers. Contact your nearest location to find out how you can get involved.
